Part I.

Must be a graduate from a recognised medical college.

Part II.

Candidates may take this examination only if they have completed Part I or have obtained an exemption for Part-1 (for example, in Pakistan, you may sit the FCPS I).

The candidates require two years supervised post graduate training from an institution recognised by the RCOG (Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists). This training requires an assessment by the RCOG. From September 2002 this requirement will be four years.

EXAMINATIONS

Part 1:

The examination is on basic sciences. It consists of two mcqs question papers each lasting two hours.

Part 2: (Two Sections)

Written Section:

Written section consists of three parts:

Five short essay questions on obstetrics in two hours.

Three hundred MCQs in one hour.

Five short essay questions on gynaecology in two hours.

Oral Section:

Only those candidates who pass the written section can proceed to oral examination.

The examination consists of three hour oral assessment. The candidates will be examined in a sequence of twelve to fifteen minutes stations.
